  1.             EUDPASS -- Eudora Pro/Lite Password Decoder

  5. This is a program that lets you decode the password saved in the
  6. configuration file of the popular Eudora e-mail program.  Eudora will
  7. save your POP password if you select the corresponding option.  Most
  8. users do so in order to avoid the hassle of typing the password every
  9. time they want to check mail.

  12. The Two Ways to Run EUDPASS
  13. ---------------------------
  14. EUDPASS path
  15.  
  16.         "path" specifies the directory where Eudora was installed.
  17.         EUDPASS is particularly interested in the configuration file
  18.         EUDORA.INI.  The program will extract all necessary
  19.         information from the configuration file and display the
  20.         results on the screen.

  22. EUDPASS -s encoded_password
  23.  
  24.         "encoded_password" should be replaced by a cryptic string of
  25.         characters from the EUDORA.INI file.  You can find it on the
  26.         right of the SavePasswordText entry.  This option is
  27.         basically a less convenient form of the previous one.

  29. As of January 5, 1997, EUDPASS works with all available versions of
  30. Eudora Pro and Light.  I also tested it with beta version 3 of Eudora
  31. Pro 3.0.1 and beta version 4 of Eudora Light 3.0.1.  I am not sure if
  32. Qualcomm will bother to change the encoding algorithm after this
  33. program becomes public domain, but it'll surely work with millions of
  34. Eudora copies already downloaded and sold.

  37. Why Would Someone Need EUDPASS?
  38. -------------------------------
  39. I have seen some people who simply forgot their passwords, since they
  40. used them only once in Eudora setup process.  Of course, the
  41. situation can be remedied by contacting your system administrator.
  42. However, that is likely to be inconvenient, because he or she can
  43. only change the password to a new one.  In such cases, EUDPASS can
  44. help you.

  46. Do not try to use this program to find out other people's passwords.
  47. Should you decide to do so, you will be FULLY responsible for your
  48. actions according to the laws of the country you are from.  The
  49. author and site from which you downloaded EUDPASS take no
  50. responsibility for any unlawful actions you may take.

  53. How much does EUDPASS cost?
  54. ---------------------------
  55. Nothing.  It's free.  Isn't this cool?  If you do not like it, delete
  56. the file immediately.  When I was little, my mom would always smack
  57. me for not giving 20 kopecks to a homeless guy.  (Well, that was at
  58. the time when the Soviet Union was still there.) Not that I am trying
  59. to say that you are homeless.  She smacked me just enough to realize
  60. that giving out some things for free is beneficial for the society as
